We were recently asked to create a Photoshop illustration process tutorial for PSD Tuts+ based on Blizzard Entertainment's insanely large and addictive game, the World of Warcraft.
At the risk of polarizing our audience, although we've played numerous Alliance based characters, Sarah and I always had a soft spot for the Horde; the Undead quests were always much funnier! So naturally we chose to illustrate some of our personal favourite characters from the Horde side of the game including a Sporeling, Sylvanas Windrunner, Arthas, a Tuskarr and the Head of the Headless Horseman (don't ask, just trust me that he was funny!) and of course the World of Warcraft figurehead, the dreaded Murloc!
You can read the tutorial at PSD Tuts+ here
Have fun, David
PS. "For the HORRRRRRRRRDE!"

Looks really awesome! I like all the effects used here, ranging from the blurs to the lighting and stuff. Interestingly enough, the headless horseman's head unifies all the elements in the image due to its light. I love Sylvanas' pose. Great job!
Anything made before November last year would've been the two of us, but since having our first baby it's all been me (Sarah does still offer her opinions in a consulting role)
Well, in this one it was all me. Since Freya turned up Sarah's taken more of an adviser role where occasionally she'll duck her head into the office to offer an opinion and feedback on where things are going. We haven't worked on an image together for a year now. Sarah used to do all of the flat colours and she's also tidy everything up when I was done as my digital painting used to be a little..."carefree". Since Sarah stepped back to raise FReya I've had to get much more careful watching what I do!
Thanks I've never played Starcraft so I couldn't really comment, but I do know when we went for the "For the Horde" achievement (where you storm the Alliance capitals)our Horde force was pretty effective! We had the right mix of speed and cowardice!
